Since 1966, Outdoor School has been a vital component of our public education system. Each year, thousands of families count on the program to introduce their children to nature, ecology, the environment, natural resources, and animal and plant life while keeping them safe, healthy, comfortable and inspired. Unfortunately, schools do not always have the money to send their students to Outdoor School.
Friends of Outdoor School is dedicated to preserving the Outdoor School experience for all students regardless of a student's ability, experience, income or family background.
Friends of Outdoor School needs you!
Outdoor School:
- Is a national model that provides hands-on learning.
- Serves 13,000 sixth grade students throughout the region.
- Provides unique leadership opportunity to more than 2,800 high school students annually.
- Introduces students to careers in science, sustainability, teaching and children’s services.
- Is a part of our local heritage.
- Creates tomorrow’s conservation, environmental and natural resource leaders.
